18 October 2026 release
A dependable citation graph, sign-in for the library, and sharper MCP tools
This release is mostly about reliability: the parts of PaperVantage that had become slow or fragile as the library grew now hold up.
- The citation graph loads reliably again, connections included, and new papers are linked into it as soon as they're added.
- Reading papers, the feed and the graph now need a PaperVantage account.
- MCP tools search more sensibly and behave the same way as the website.
- Every release now has its own public release notes, starting with this one.
The Explain and Ask buttons on the paper page have been retired. They're being replaced by an AI assistant for members that sits beside the paper, which follows in the next release.
Under the hood, product analytics are now processed in the European Union, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Each PaperVantage release now has a dated page and one page per feature, plus a sitemap and RSS feed so changes are easy to find and follow.
