Account events in our privacy policy

PaperVantage now records a small set of account events on its server, such as signing up or starting a subscription, as described in the privacy policy.

PaperVantage's server now records a small set of account events, so we can see how the service is used when the website, an AI tool or the command line is involved. The privacy policy lists them.

  • What is recorded. Signing up and how (Google or email), starting checkout, starting, cancelling or ending a subscription, a failed or recovered payment, creating an API key, reaching a plan limit, and whether you used the site, an AI tool or the command line on a given day.
  • What isn't. Events are tied to an opaque account identifier. Your email, name, API keys, questions, search terms and paper text are never sent.
  • Where it goes. The events go to PostHog, our analytics provider, which processes them in the European Union.
  • The analytics switch. The browser analytics switch on the privacy page and your account page still controls in-browser analytics. These account events are recorded by our server to run the service, so that switch doesn't cover them.
